Lillie A. Estes was the beloved community strategist who conceptualized the Community Justice Network. She sadly passed away in 2018. The Community Justice Network is celebrating her birthday with a series of events Lillie dreamed of before she left us.

On August 6, we’re hosting a book talk and discussion on Boy With A Knife: A Story of Murder, Remorse, and a Prisoner’s Fight for Justice or Why We Shouldn’t Put Children in Adult Prisons. The event will be facilitated by author/ activist Jenise Justice Brown with community leader, Tobias Estes (Lillie’s son), and author of Boy With A Knife, Jean Trounstine.

This is the culmination of an idea that Lillie had after her son, John (Tobias’ brother) was murdered. Boy With a Knife invites a discussion on restorative justice, a discussion Lillie hoped to take place in Richmond and across the country.
